The currency ban has come at a time when the tourism in Kerala is at its peak season. The cash crunch has severely affected the sector and the loss was estimated to be about Rs 1,000 crore since the demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes came into effect from November 8 last, state tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran told السياحة في كيرلا a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.

From the awesome seashores along the Malabar Shore to the labyrinth of backwater pathways in Alleppey and Kumarakom to the fantastic verdant hillside tea gardens in Munnar, Kerala’s scenery and points of interest are almost as different and unique as its individuals and the lifestyle and record of the individuals of Kerala is a significant component in gaining the visitors from all over the world.

Also realising that high accommodation cost is a matter of concern for tourists, with foreign and domestic tourists spending 32% to 33% of their total travel expenditure on accommodation, the tourism department held meetings with resort owners to offer special discounts on accommodation in the next tourist season.

He said plans are afoot to include important temples starting from the richest Hindu temple Padmanabha Swamy temple in the south of the state to Sabarimala temple in the north to complete the pilgrimage tourism circuit while ecotourism circuit will be created without disturbing the environment.

If you have Kerala sadya (traditional Kerala buffet) in places other than large hotels, you are expected to throw away any leftovers (called echil) by folding the leaf upon which you ate into two and putting it where others do. You must not leave it the serving place itself and go.
